Samantha Kochis, a recent graduate of the Masters program for flute performance at the New School in NYC, will return to Calvin to perform an “ambient music concert" with her trio on Friday, October 6th at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, and donations will be accepted to cover the costs of the concert.
All three musicians are from the New School, and are skilled in composition, improvisation, and electronic music. The concert will feature the genre of “ambient” music. This will be new to most listeners, and will include visual and lighting elements, including projections and additional sanctuary lights. “Ambient” music is often aligned with modern meditation music, and most or all of this concert's music will be spontaneously composed and performed. Live audience feedback enhances the spiritual flow of the music.
