Daily Bread Ministry Project Update and Thank You

On Wednesday, October 7th we delivered 221 rolls of toilet paper, 91 deodorants, 45 bottles of body wash, 114 tubes of toothpaste, 42 toothbrushes and some Halloween treats.

A big THANK YOU goes out to all of you that donated and to our bus driver, Mike for his help. Your generosity is very much appreciated by many. Dear friends,

Just a few lines to thank you for your fall donation drive for Daily Bread. I love that you do your drive at this time of the year because we are always desperately low in inventory in the fall. Our Christmas and spring drives seem to carry us over to this time each year, but people still have great need for hygienic supplies.  Opening all the boxes felt like Christmas morning to us because we hate saying no to folks for providing supplies that they need.  And your gifting was so generous.  Thank you. We also love the Halloween treats.  We will bless our men, women and children on November 1 with the sweet treats! 

Unfortunately, our ministry continues to grow in the number of people that we are caring for. Beyond caring for those who experience homelessness, this year we are caring for folks who are knowing food insecurity because of the high cost of food and basic necessities. Even a few of our seniors have resorted to living in their cars just to make ends meet. It breaks our hearts as we fight for them to secure low-income housing.

And yet, every time we are open, Daily Bread provides a place of spiritual, physical, and emotional respite.  It is like a holy huddle before men and women have to engage in playing the sometimes fierce game of life. It is like a rest stop on a long journey. For fifteen hours a week, our folks have a chance to breathe easier, not worry where their next meal is coming from, and they have an opportunity to unburden their fears to caring staff and volunteers and to seek concrete and life-supporting help in their time of need.

So, thank you for supporting this ministry. Every stick of deodorant, every tube of toothpaste, every toothbrush, every bar of soap, and yes---every roll of toilet paper helps bring dignity and hope to a life. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!
