Beginning April 12th and continuing May 3rd, May 10th and May 17th, Rev. Stephen Cramer will lead the Adult Ed class on an exploration of Jesus’ response to the demand for a sign from heaven. The event appears in all four Gospels, but in Matthew and Luke, Jesus says that no sign will be given, except the sign of Jonah. This sign has perplexed readers for two thousand years, because Matthew and Luke don’t agree about what the sign could be and Jonah is the most peculiar prophet in the Old Testament. So come travel with Rev. Cramer in the belly of the whale through four Sundays until we are spewed out on the dry land of May 17th.
During Adult Ed on April 19th and 26th, Caroline Baker will lead us in exploring a few different practices of embodied spirituality. Rather than compartmentalizing physical health, mental health, and spiritual health, there is value in breaking down these walls and establishing rituals rooted in wholeness and connection.
Have you ever wondered what art has to do with the Holy Spirit, prayer has to do with digestion, or laughter has to do with sleeping well? Are you curious about the importance of living in connection with mind, body, and spirit? We will dip our toes in a variety of ways to pray, play, and create. Some may be new, some may be familiar, some may be exciting, some may be uncomfortable, but each will provide an opportunity to get curious and make space for the Spirit to move.
