Calvin Cares 2 Prepare (CC2P)

August 5th, 12th, 19th

Calvin Cares 2 Prepare (CC2P) is a three-week, one-hour event being put on by Calvin’s Youth Formation Committee designed to be:

* Cool for PreK to 5th graders,

* Care for their needs, and

* Prepare them for the upcoming COVID School Year.

August 5th, August 12th, August 19th — 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Each week will be filled with silly games, activities and sound scriptural practices. We will be expanding upon Ephesians 6:13-18, The Whole Armor of God with what we’re calling, “The COVID Translation”

Please wait at a minimum physical distance of 6 feet while non-contact temperatures are taken each week; temperatures above 100.4ºF will confidentially leave immediately with a coupon for Dairy Queen. PLEASE work with us in minimizing the dramatic impact on our children by happily saying, “Come on honey, we’re going to get ice-cream!”

All participants must bring each week: Mask, Filled Water Bottle, and Towel

Calvin Unplugged

August 9th and 23rd at 7:30pm

We will be having an outdoor Calvin Unplugged service twice a month while weather permits.

Here are the guidelines:

Please bring your own chair!

Please DO NOT bring food or drink to share!
Please bring your masks!

Please DO NOT bring that book you need to return…!
Please keep socially distant!

Please DO NOT give into the urge to go hug a friend!

Please come on time!

Please DO NOT stay to talk to anyone afterwards, staff included!

Please come filled with love!

Please DO NOT come with a full bladder (no bathrooms)!

August 9th — Frierson Farm @ 7:30 p.m.

August 23rd — Zelienople Park @ 7:30 p.m.

We will be doing a registration online and by phone for planning purposes. Ushers will be necessary to keep us physically distant. Sign ups will be in registration. For those who want the extra layer of protection of staying in your car, Calvin Unplugged will have a 1,000-foot range FM radio signal broadcasted! Please sign up when you register.

Meetings May Resume at Calvin in August

Beginning mid-August, Calvin’s Committees and Small Groups may meet at Calvin by reservation only. Please note they would be required to provide a hybrid meeting where those who want to meet at Calvin in person could, and others could meet via Zoom. To keep with Physical Distancing, only one Committee or Small Group may meet at one time, preferably under the Calvin Canopy. Why one at a time? Because if it’s raining, you would be able to move your meeting to Fellowship Hall. Special reservations for the Conference Room will be considered if the group has four (4) or less individuals. Please bring your own chairs and note that if staff are not involved, a member of the group must have a key and know both the security system and password. Dahn will be coordinating a schedule. If you want to be assured of a space, you must sign up with Dahn (office.cpc@zoominternet.net; 724-452-7560)

Calvin College Study Hall

Beginning in mid-August and moving forward, at scheduled times on Monday through Friday, socially distanced tables will be set up in fellowship hall. Students would enter, exit and move about like in restaurants, with masks, but when at table they would be able to take them off if they so choose. No food or drink provided. Restrooms limited to one stall and wiped down after each use. Students would be responsible for wiping down hard surfaces they use.

Calvin Canopy

Thanks to the generosity of Calvin members we have four, 10’X10’ canopies Building and Grounds put on our back lawn (between the Office and Faith House) for Zelienople Preschool, AA, Holy Yoga, Calvin College Study Hall, Committees and Small Groups, Members, and Community to use to safely connect outdoors (always the preference). A schedule will be kept and posted as well as CDC safety guidelines for all to use.

Back To School Items Needed

The Mission Committee is inviting our congregation to support Glade Run Foundation for their “back to school” needs.  Items may be dropped off at the Glade Run Administration Building located at 30 Glade Run Drive (or 70 West Beaver Road). The glass doors will be open between 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. weekdays. There is a donation box inside the building. Because of COVID, the need is great since students cannot share markers and other supplies. Please include your name and contact information with your donation. If you have questions, contact Cheryl Martin at cmartin@gladerun.org or 724-452-4453 x1277. Please bring donated items to Glade Run Foundation by August 24th.
