Doug Gebhard

The Rev. Doug Gebhard was born and raised in Penn Hills. After graduation, he attended the University of Pittsburgh (’71), and in received his M. Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (’89). His early ministry was to installed positions but he discovered a new calling to interim ministry around the turn of the century. Certified in interim ministry in 1998, he’s served as an Interim Pastor in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida and New York–churches both small and large.

Doug’s special area of interest viz. ministry is leadership development. He co-leads a monthly “leadership renewal” discussion with Graham Standish. Early in his ordained life, Doug worked as a nursing home chaplain and as a hospice bereavement care coordinator. Prior to ordained ministry, Doug was in the music business: sales, promotion, music journalism and as a performer (guitar).

Doug and his wife, Dr. Susan Gebhard, live in Sewickley. Susan is a lifelong educator. Currently, she provides gifted education in the Seneca Valley School District. The Gebhards have three children: Xandra (28), Mairé (22) and Mac (20). They have two pets: Yankee, a Golden Doodle and Miley, a cat.
