Paving the Way to the Future
Over the past 10 years, with the spiritual and financial support of our congregation, we have conducted several successful capital campaigns to enlarge and enhance the church. Now it is time to address the parking lot. The theme of this new campaign is “Paving the Way to the Future.” We seek God’s hand in raising $150,000 over the next 12 months to cover the cost of enlarging and enhancing the parking area. Additionally we will “drain the pond” at the south end of the lot with a new drainage system.
To initially cover the expenses, we’ve obtained a loan for $118,200 from the Presbyterian Church (USA) Foundation at a base loan interest rate of 3.50% over an 84 month term. This equates to a fixed monthly payment of $1,588.59 for the first 60 months, but then the rate would increase to whatever the current market value will be. Rather than having this burden over 5 to 7 years, we feel God’s discernment that we can pay this full amount in just 12 months with the help of everyone.
To date, we’ve already received $20,000 in pledges so we are off to a very good start. You will receive a pledge card in the mail and we ask that you prayerfully consider what God is asking of you and your family.
We are not simply fixing potholes, expanding and repaving the parking lot. We are demonstrating hospitality by making Calvin more attractive and accessible to all people. We are providing a safe and inviting place for people to grow in their faith.

Building on Foundations
“Nothing is forever” goes the saying. That surely applies to asphalt and concrete. The “new” construction is already “old.” Construction materials deteriorate with age.
But the foundations of faith cannot be destroyed. The love of God in Christ is eternal. Our faith may waver and even grow during our lifetimes, but God is faithful still. This is our sure foundation.
Help keep Calvin Church’s building and grounds in good shape by contributing to the capital campaign. Your gift will help pave the way to the future.
The church parking lot is more than just a place to put your vehicle.
Look at the area included in the parking lot. Does that shape to the left look familiar? You see, the lot is about more than parking.
Our lot is the first impression people get when they visit. We want members and guests to know they’re in a safe environment.
Calvin Church wants to be a good host to members and guests. The parking lot is one way we can show our hospitality.
Worshippers, prayer groups, committees, outside groups all depend on Calvin’s building and grounds including use of the parking areas.
In order for Calvin Church to grow, there needs to be enough space for people to park. The new lot is one way we’re paving the way to the future.
New Season of Ministry
This is a period of transition at Calvin Church. After many years of successful ministry with the Rev. Dr. N. Graham Standish, Interim Senior Pastor Doug Gebhard is now guiding the congregation in the tasks which will lead to the calling of new Pastor.
Mission and ministry won’t stop during the transition. As a matter of fact, a lot is happening as the congregation prepares for its future through continued prayer, study, worship, and service.
We pray for discernment for God’s guidance during these in-between times.
