Becoming
a Blessed Church
by N.
Graham Standish
Pastor Graham
Standish shares the story of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople,
Pennsylvania, and its journey to become a spiritually deep congregation,
one that is inwardly and outwardly healthy - spiritually, psychologically,
physically and relationally. What the congregation has discovered is that
when a church is open to God, God's blessings flow through everything
the church does, from meetings to ministry to mission.
Becoming a Blessed Church
will help you discern God's purpose and the path God is calling your
congregation to walk. This book will help you find Christ in your midst
and become aware of the many ways the blessings of God's Spirit flow
through your congregation.

Paradoxes for Living:
Cultivating Faith in Confusing Times
by N. Graham Standish
"Paradoxes
for Living: Cultivating Faith in Confusing Times" focuses
on the power of Christian paradoxes to deepen our faith and draw
us closer to God. If you look at Christian faith, one of
the things that makes is difficult to fully grasp is that it is
full of paradoxes -- things that seem to contradict themselves,
but with deeper reflection become life-giving. For example,
the fact that God became human in Jesus, that Jesus was able to
be God and still pray to God, and that God died on the cross and
was resurrected are all parodoxes. They cannot be understood
with the mind, they have to be reflected upon over a lifetime
with the heart. "Paradoxes for Living" explores
some of the more explicit paradoxes of the Bible: to be
strong we have to be weak; to save our lives we have to
lose them; pain as the pathway to joy; in trivial
things lie greatness; to become mature we have to become
like children; to live we have to die, and to receive we
have to give.

Forming
Faith in a Hurricane,
A Spiritual Primer for Daily Living
by
N. Graham Standish
How
do we stand in the midst of the swirling winds of life that pull
us in so many directions? Standish has provided a primer for forming
and deepening a spiritual core that can withstand life's competing
demands. The book examines the nature of faith, the role of prayer
and community in strengthening faith, and ways in which persons
are enabled to respond with compassion when confronting human
need.
